Unique School.

Honorable teachers and my dear friends,
It gives me immense pleasure to be speaking on this occasion of our school foundation day.

It was 18th June in the year 1962 that our school started with only 84 students in a tiny shed. The upcoming year is therefore the 'Golden Jubilee' year of our school.
From 84 students in 1962 to 4500 in 2011, our school has a long way. Our school is unique in many ways.

It was founded by the locals of Dahisar at entirely their own expense. Great and humble people like Mr.Tare, Mr.Patil and Mr.Kini donated land for purpose of making a school. Do you know why? It was because Dahisar never had secondary school at that time and had to travel places as far as Vile Parle by trains for a good education. Students suffered accidents in train travels and only way to stop this was to have a school in Dahisar.

The school's founder members honorable, Shri.Thakur, Rane, Raote, Parab, Thakre went door to door and collected funds and raised the school's initial structure. Ever since 1962, our school is managed by the locals of Dahisar for the people of Dahisar. That is another unique feature of our school.

Many of the ex students of our school are the part of managing board of our school. That is the third unique feature of our school.

What's more…….the kind of airy classrooms, the size of playground our school has is rare to find in Mumbai's suburbs.

The level of extra curricular anSuchitra V Haranhallid sports activities our school has is also in comparable with best of the schools in Mumbai.

Over the past 49 years, VPM's Vidya Mandir Dahisar has transformed from the school to a social movement.Ex students of this school have excelled in various walks of life, making the school proud. Amongst the ex students we have virtually everyone from MLAS to commissioned defense officers, IITANS and doctors.

I am proud to be students of this school. I am also glad to be associated with such caring and dedicated teachers.

I understand that we, as a student can best advertise for the school by being successful in our own careers. On this occasion we promise our teachers to put best possible efforts as students to bring glory to our school. I thank all my teachers for having given this opportunity to speak and also all of you for giving me patient hearing.

Suchitra V Haranhalli. Std. VII A
