V.P.M’S Vidya Mandir (English Secondary Section)

Internal Competitions:

Following competitions were held in the month of December,’08.

· Debate Competition for the students of std VII vs VIII was held on 5^th December,2008.Winning team std VIII.

· Science Quiz Competition for the students of std V to X was conducted on 2^nd December, 2008.Results were declared.

External Competitions:

Rotaract club of Dahisar Coast has organized various competitions for the students of std V to X.

· Debate competition was held on 23^rd November,2008.Total 3 teams (9 students) from std VII to IX participated in the same. Following 3 teams are selected for Semi-final which will be held in the month of Febraury, 2009.

· Drawing Competition:Total of 111 students from std V to IX participated in the drawing competition conducted on 6^th December, 2008.

Navneet Publication drawing competition:

Navneet publication had organized a drawing competition for the students of std V to VIII on 5^th December, 2008. In all 210 selected drawings were send for the same. Following are the students whose drawings are selected for the state level competition.

Nehru centre quiz competition:

Nehru centre had organized quiz competition on 27^th November, 2008.Mst Atul Kotian from std IX B won 3^rd prize in the same(certificate and cash prize Rs.500/-)

School Examinations:

Open house for std V to X was held on 6^th December, 2008.

Preliminary examination for std X will commence from 5^th January to 19^th January, 2009.

3^rd and 4^th unit test for std IX will begin from 5^th January to 10^th January ,2009. 3^rd unit test for std V to VIII will commence from 5^th January and will conclude on 9^th January, 2009.

Sunday Practice examinations:

Geography, Marathi and Science II practice papers were conducted. Geography and Science II practice papers have been distributed.

External Examinations:

· Ganit pravinya examination was conducted on 7^th December, 2008 in our school. Total 55 students appeared for the same

· Bal Vaidnyanik examination .Total 8 students of std VI are selected for practical. Mst Shantanu Tawte and Mst.Shreyas Kupekar from std IX are selected for practical.

· Marathi Nimnasthar examinations. Total 424 students appeared for Marathi Nimnasthar examination conducted on 14^th December ,2008 in our school between 8 a.m to 11 a.m

· Hindi Rashtrabhasha examination :Results of the examination are as follows:

Sports:

· Poisur Gymkhana had organised 400 mts and 200 mts running and long jump for the age group under 18 on 6^th and 7^th December, 2008.Ms Krutika Shinde secured 3^rd position in 400 mts and 200 mts and long jump interschool competitions.

· Prabhodhan interschool competition 2008-09 had organized kho-kho interschool competition age group under 17 girs/boys on 10^th and 11^th December, 2008 .Two teams participated in the same and they are selected for semi finals.

· Prabhodhan atheletic meet 2008-09 had organized various interschool competitions on 12^th and 13^th December, 2008.Following are the results of the same.

English Club:

A lecture was arranged for the students of English Club on the topic ‘Communication Skill’ was given by Prof Varatkar, member of English Secondary School Committee and Principal of Khandelwal College, Malad on 6^th December, 2008 at 11.00am.

On the spot Essay writing for std V to VII was conducted on 13^th December, 2008.

Other Activities:

· B.Ed student teachers from Thakur college conducted classes on 11^th ,15^th &16^th December, 2008 in our school.

· 12^th December 2008 was “Matrys Day”. To commemorate the sacrifice of Matrys,the students of V.P.M vidya mandir paid their sincere tribute to the brave soldiers, who laid their lifes on 26^th November, 2008 for the peace of this nation.

· Our school had arranged a lecture cum workshop for all the teachers of V.P.M’s Vidya mandir on the topic “Handling the students having different learning abilities” on 13^th December 2008.Dr.(Mrs) Meenal Dixit, Principal of Podar high school,Santacruz(w),(Marathi Primary) delivered a lecture.

· Mst.Athrva Sontakke and Mst.Mohan Kotian form std IX attended a NIE Reporters program and quiz competition on 18^th December 2008 in Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi.They were accompanied by their parents.

· Slide show for std V to X was conducted by “Four Cods” institution on the topic “Care and Diseases of Eye”on 19^th December 2008 for morning shift from 10 a.m to 12 noon and for afternoon shift between 12.30 p.m to 2.30 p.m

· Total 9 students from std X will be visiting TIFR on 21^st December, 2008.They will be accompanied by their parents and 2 teachers (Mrs. Shenoy and Mrs Khadatkar).

· Vidya Prasarak Mandal has arranged for farewell programme for Mrs.Surve Madam on 31^st December 2008.

· School will remain closed for Christmas vacation from 25^th December to 30^th December 2008.

· Shri. Vasuki Haranhalli, Chairman of English Secondary section had come to talk with the students of std X-A about their dreams and discipline.

· ‘Great Artist Competition’ was conducted by Daily Sakal News Paper in the month of September. Ms. Mita Prashant Dev from std VI –A was honoured with the title ‘Great Artist” in Group A from std IV to VII and also bagged cash prize Rs.21,000/-.
