Hello friends, today’s topic for English elocution is very interesting, ‘If aliens took over the earth’, Oh! Wow!!

Friends do you remember Jaadu from Koi mil gaya?? This Jaadu was none other than an alien!! A very kind-hearted alien. Do you know what an alien is? It means a creature from outside the earth i.e. not a resident of Planet earth. Since years we have been listening to stories of aliens. Many people have claimed that they have seen creatures that do not belong to earth. Aliens are a never-ending subject for research. But still, if aliens exist and are planning to invade our earth, what will happen?

They will first try to evacuate our earth by using their Sci-fi weapons which we have never imagined. They may also use nuclear weapons which we might not be ready to fight back. I can imagine them with a very monstrous look, like they can have eight legs or three eyes etc. They may destroy our earth or make us their slaves. They may build up their own communities and rule the earth. I don’t know how true these stories are, but if they are true, then our human race on earth is at stake. It is a question of our existence. A very frightening thought! We all need to be very alert and well-equipped to fight back the aliens.

I hope that aliens coming to Earth and alien wars will remain within the limits of T.V. serials and movies and we continue to enjoy them.

CLOSED EYE, OPEN EYE

Once, a magician from North India visited the court of Krishnadevaraya and the King of Vijayanagaram and exhibited several magic tricks. He even showed one special trick in which he separated his own head!
After this the magician challenged the members of the court and asked whether there was anyone in Vijayanagaram empire to show such magic tricks. But there were none in the court that day to show any magic items. The king was ashamed that his court did not have a magician. Then, suddenly Tenali Raman came forward and bowed before the king and senior members. He challenged the magician, “I will do one item of magic with closed eyes. But you should do it with open eyes. Can you?” “Oh, it is quite simple. This fellow is doing it with closed eyes. I will not have any difficulty in doing it with open eyes!” the magician thought. He accepted the challenge.

Raman brought a spoonful of chilli powder. He closed his eyes and dropped the chilli powder into his closed eyes. He waited for two to three minutes. Later, he removed all the powder and opened his eyes. Then, he brought another spoonful of chilli powder and gave it to the magician. He asked him to perform the trick with open eyes. The magician found himself trapped. He expressed several excuses. But people booed him and made fun of him. The magician, unable to perform the act left the scene hurriedly. The King was extremely happy.

MORAL: Never be boastful.

छोटे गुरु

- निलिमा भातखंडे

आपल्यापेक्षा आपला गुरु वयानं लहान आहे हे लक्षात ठेवून त्याचं शिष्यत्व पत्करायचं ते सुध्दा त्याचा गुरु बनून हे वाचायला काहीसं विचित्र वाटेल पण खरोखरच त्यात तथ्य आहे. ही छोटी मुलं आम्हा शिक्षकांची सतत परीक्षा घेतच असतात. या परीक्षेला अभ्यासक्रम नाही साचेबंद उत्तरं नाहीत आणि तयारी करायला वेळही नाही. सतत तयारीतच रहावं लागतं. वर्गात शिरल्यावर लुकलुकणारे डोळे आपल्याकडे बघतायत या विचाराने क्षणभर मी अस्वस्थ होते. माझ्या दष्टीने मुलांचे चेहरे व डोळे वाचता आले पाहिजेत. या बाबतीतही एक गंमत आहे ती म्हणजे प्रत्येक मूल हे स्वतंत्र व्यक्तिमत्त्व आहे. चेह-यावर दिसणा-या भाव-भावनांमागे बरंच काही दडलेलं आहे. कुठे तरी खट्याळपणा कुठे तरी अनेक प्रश्नांचा गोंधळ, बरंच काहीसं. एकदा हे चेहरे वाचायच तंत्र, त्यांचा मूड ओळखायच तंत्र अवगत झालं की या मुलांना शिकवण्यातला, त्यांच्यात मिसळून जाण्याचा आनंद काही औरच आहे.

या छोट्यांच्या अंगात गुण अगदी ठासून भरलेले असतात ते बाहेर येऊ द्यायची संधी मात्र आम्ही शिक्षकांनीच द्यायची, मी तर असे म्हणेन अशी एकही संधी वाया जाऊ द्यायची नाही, असा पक्का निश्चय करूनच अगदी टपून बसायचं या संधीवरूनच एक मजेशीर अनुभव लिहिण्याचा मोह टाळता येत नाही.

वर्गात नेहमीच मुलं सतरंजीवर व शिक्षिका कधी खुर्चीवर बरेचदा वर्गातच कुठेतरी मुलांच्यात बसलेली किंवा उभी असणं हा प्रकार खरं तर मुलांना व मला नेहमीचाच. कधी कधी हजेरी घेण्यासाठी काही लिहिण्यासाठी टेबलाजवळच्या खुर्चीवर बसत असे. काम झाल्यावर परत नेहमीप्रमाणे वर्गात वावरत असे. या मधल्या वेळात वर्गातील काही मुलं मी खुर्चीवर बसल्यापासून मी उठेपर्यंत अगदी बारकाईने माझ्या प्रत्येक हालचालींचं निरीक्षण करताना पाहिली मी खुर्चीवरून उठून वर्गात वावरताना माझी खुर्चीकडे पाठ वळली रे वळली कि निरखून बघणारी मंडळी अगदी पटकन धावत जाऊन त्या खुर्चीवर बसायची एकच चढाओढ लागायची. मग तिथे दुसरा वर्गच भरायचा. हे माझ्या लक्षात आलं, पण माझं लक्ष आहे हे लक्षात आल्यावर काहीश्या नाखुशीनंच तो ग्रुप बाजूला व्हायचा. त्यांच्या चेह-यावरची नाराजी मात्र माझ्या मनात घर करून राहिली. त्याच क्षणी उद्या या ग्रुपला खुर्ची जरा जास्त वेळ रिकामे करून देण्याचा विचार पक्का केला. ठरल्याप्रमाणे दुस-याच दिवशी तशी संधी दिली. त्यांच्याकडे छान दुर्लक्ष करून वर्गाच्या दुस-या टोकाला काहीतरी काम करत असल्याचा बहाणा करून एकंदर चाललेल्या नाट्याचा अनुभव घेतला. खुर्चीवर बसलेल्या छोट्याने चक्क वर्गाचा ताबाच घेतला, तर दुस-याने मी पण बसणारचं असा हट्ट करून त्याला उठवण्याचा असफल प्रयत्न करून शेवटी एका खुर्चीवर दोघांनी बसून पुढची सूत्रं हाती घेतली. एका खुर्चीवर दोघांनी बसून माझी नक्कल अगदी हुबेहुब करून इतरांचं लक्ष वेधून घेतलंच. वर्गातल्या बहुसंख्य मुलांनी त्याना साथ देऊन कितीतरी नकला करून दाखवल्या. याच खेळातून मग आमच्या मदतनीस बाईंची नक्कल करून त्यांची सर्व कामे आपसात वाटून घेऊन चक्क खाऊ खाण्याची जय्यत तयारी करून मला चकित करायचं म्हणून चूपचाप बसली. खुर्चीवरची मंडळी सुध्दा माझीच नक्कल करत रांगेतून फिरत होती. आता मात्र मी व माझ्या मदतनीस बाईं दोघींनीही वर्गात हस्तक्षेप करणं जरूर होतं. सगळी मुलं अगदी आनंदाने एका सुरात म्हणाली जिजी आज तुमचं काम आम्ही केलं, तुमची गंमत केली. यात अतिशयोक्ती अजिबात नाही. आम्ही सुध्दा अगदी भारावून गेलो. आमच्या मदतनीस बाईंना आम्ही सर्व व मुलं जिजी म्हणायचो. या प्रसंगी जिजींच्या चेह-यावरचा आनंद ओसंडून वहात होता. त्यांनाही गहिवरून आले. मुलांच्या चेह-यावरचा आनंद, आत्मविश्वास, सहचर्य, निरीक्षण, शिस्तपालन इ. अनेक चांगल्या गुणांची झलक क्षणात दिसली. बस या एकाच संधीचा फायदा घ्यायचा ठरवला. दुस-या दिवशी या प्रसंगाबद्दल गप्पा गोष्टी करायच्या ठरवलं. त्या प्रमाणे सुरुवातही झाली. मला हव्या त्या ट्रॅकवर गाडी आल्यावर मी प्रश्न विचारला, काल माझ्या खुर्चीवर कोण बसलं होतं? या प्रश्नाला ३/४ मुलांनी मी मी असं उत्तर दिलं आणि ते बरोबरही होतं तुम्ही माझ्या खुर्चीवर का बसलात? या प्रश्नावर मुलांची गाडी जरा अडखळली पण मी रागावणार नाही म्हटल्यावर त्यांनी जे उत्तर दिलं ते विचार करायला लावणार होतं. तुम्ही त्या खुर्चीवर बसता तुमचं आम्ही सगळं ऐकतो जिजिसुद्धा तुमचं ऐकतात. तुम्ही रागावता तरी सुद्धा अम्हाला तुमचं ऐकावच लागतं. तुमच्या खुर्चीत बसल्यावर बाकीची मुलं आमचं ऐकतात. आम्हाला तुम्ही व्हायला आवडतं. गंमत वाटते, म्हणून तुमच्या खुर्चीत बसायला आवडतं.

हा एक प्रसंग मला बरंच काही शिकवून गेला. मनाशी पक्कं ठरवलं त्यांच्यातल्या वळवळण्याच्या स्वभावाला भरपूर हालचाली करू द्यायच्या, जोडीला स्वावलंबन व शिस्त लावायची. पण मी हे करून घेणार आहे हे त्यांना समजू न देता मुलांचा उत्स्फूर्त प्रतिसाद मिळवायचा, यातूनच मग रोज वर्गातली जी नित्य बसायची कामं एकट्या मदतनिसावर न सोपवता मुलांना काम करायला प्रोत्साहन देऊन रोजच मुलं अगदी खुशीत सर्व करायला लागली. मस्ती, मारामारी थांबली. पण खुर्चीचं आकर्षण मात्र अजूनही कायम आहे. अजूनही मुलं माझ्या खुर्चीवर बसायला का धडपडतात हे अजूनही मला न उलगडलेलं कोडं आहे. किमान १०० डोळे आपल्याकडे बघतायत; कोणत्या कोप-यातून काय विचारलं जाईल याचा नेम नाही. याची जाणीव सतत होत राहिल्याने म्हणा किंवा गप्पागोष्टीतल्या प्रतिसादाच्या परिणामाचे दश्य स्वरूप असेल वर्गातली पट्टी हद्दपार झाली. अंतर्मुख होऊन स्वत:चंच निरीक्षण करण्याची सवय लागली.

या सगळ्या मागचं कारण एकच आपल्यापेक्षा लहान असलेले हे छोटे गुरु.

Where There is a Will, There is a Way

We all know that nothing is impossible in this world; however it is very difficult to achieve something in life without determination and will power. Strong will gives us power to go ahead and continue the tasks till we achieve success. The proverb ‘where there is a will, there is a way’ teaches us the same, that we must be determined towards our goal otherwise we will get failure. People having strong will are the ones who can do wonders in their life. Human will power is very powerful and it can defeat any difficulty and give ex­traordinary results. At first sight it may seem that many tasks are almost impossible to complete and people lacking will power get frightened away. Only few people have the necessary strength and will to reach their goal.

Along with having strong will, other things are also required, like discipline, continuity, dedication and patience. We have to persevere, get up early in the morning, and work more than the specified number of hours with full commitment. We just need to work continuously without postponing the things and waiting for the result. Don’t give an excuse or blame another person whenthings don’t work your way and never complain about your fate.

Some of the people get discouraged by a few failures as they lack the power of determination and patience to wait for the final results. We should take failure positively as it makes us strong and teaches us that we are doing somethingwrong or going in the wrong direction. Failures are stepping stones to success and we must continue hard work and never quit as there is no shortcut to success.

StudentSpeak - WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY

When we go home from school, most of the times we keep only one thing in our mind that we’ll finish our home work in 1 or 2 hours and enjoy till bed-time. But when our parents tell us to do so many things we get annoyed and we start giving excuses.

I am tired, I feel sleepy, my hand is paining due to continuous writing in school, this is too much work – I cannot do & so on. But remember if you want to be successful in your life then work hard, think in a different way and I am sure you can do something great because if there is a will, there is a way. If you really want to do something you will definitely find a way. If you don’t, then you will just find excuses.

If you look around then you will see that most of successful people were self motivated, determined and had strong will power to sweep aside all obstacles in their path.

Helen Keller was left blind and deaf when she was 2 years old but she didn’t give up, she mastered many methods of communication including ‘Braille’ and became great.

Oscar Pistorious’s legs were amputated when he was eleven months old still he won many running competitions. He is also known as the ‘fastest man on no legs’ in South Africa. India’s Taranath Shenoy is a deaf and visually impaired swimmer who is a Padmashree Awardee. Sudha Chandran is another example. She lost a leg due to gangrene following a road accident. She, however, went on to become an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer.

There are many such instances of people who have attained greatness inspite of being poor. Abraham Lincoln, Narendra Modi, Dr. Abdul Kalam and so on.

Success or failure in life depends entirely on the will of man.

In short ----

Where there is a will, there is a way.

There is potential in every day.

Make a decision to choose it,

Have courage to use it,

No matter what they say,

Your dreams can come to life

And your life can become a dream.

Autobiography of an Umbrella

Myself Atharva Bodkhe from 6B. Now I am going to share an Autobiography of an Umbrella with you.

I used to play everyday on the ground. There was one particular place to get relaxed, below an old Umbrella. One day as I was sitting under the umbrella, I started observing it. I found that the umbrella was different from others.

Suddenly, I heard a voice," Hello son, How are you? Don't be afraid my child. I am the umbrella above your head.''

I was shocked, I asked her softly.

"What happened? Why are you looking so sad?".

The umbrella started telling me its life journey.

"Eight years ago, I was especially made for the circus. The Circus owner wanted to have a show with the best joker in the circus. I was so big and very colourful. My wires were golden and my border decorated with a nice frill. I was looking very pretty, when the joker was opening me during the show. All the people were getting attracted to me. All the kids wanted to touch me. I was special because I was not made for the usual purpose like other umbrellas. I was very happy with my master, the joker. He was very kind to me and took good care of me. I had enjoyed those days a lot.

"But it was all going to end very soon. One day, during the show my master lost his balance and I fell down at the foot of an elephant's leg. Unfortunately, he put his leg on me. In that accident, I was badly broken. After that, I was thrown outside the circus. I got hurt. Everyday rats were dancing on me. I was suffering like hell. One fine morning, a poor man saw me and picked me up. He washed and repaired me as much as he could. Since then, he is using me.

"I am truly thankful to him. When you were observing me, I liked your expression. It made me speak out after a long time. Look there, your friends are calling you.” And the umbrella stopped talking.

From that day, I have often thought of that umbrella. From the umbrella's life, I learned, "Always help others and share your joy with others.” I even promised that I would take care of all my things.'

If aliens took over the Earth

Good morning, Today, I would like to share my thoughts on the amazing idea, if aliens took over the Earth…

We get to read the news about our ventures in space. There is always an attempt to know the Universe beyond our lovely planet – Earth. We know that Earth is the only planet with life on it – the plant life, animal life and human life. But what if an outsider... I mean... an alien is also interested in our dear planet earth? Oh!! Such a daring thought…

One day, we might read in the newspaper that an unidentified space shuttle crashed near a beach. News will spread that aliens have reached the Earth!!

Scientists will be busy studying the collapsed space shuttle and somewhere else the aliens will be searching for a safe place on the Earth! Initially it would be difficult to believe, but when we will have to share our seat in the bus with an alien; we will have to accept that aliens have really arrived on the Earth. Slowly we would find alien colonies coming up, and they would increase in number... Alien banks, Alien hospitals, Alien schools, Alien malls…would their kids play with us? Go to school like us? It would be interesting to know more about them… They would follow different festivals and different food habits; still we would accept them as our friends.

Slowly we’ll get to communicate with them. Then I would ask them why they had come to Earth. They would share that they needed space as their own planet had got destroyed due to neglect and their careless behavior. They would be welcome here. Human beings aren’t taking care of the planet but aliens would take better care and would live happily on the Earth forever.

Our Mother Earth has blessed us and always showered her blessings, through water, food, shelter and life. But our alien friend would ask, “Are you really taking care of the planet? Are you being responsible citizens?” Aliens would surely give us lessons on this. They would probably remind us of our duties. They would warn us not to commit the same mistakes that they had made.

I am sure, we really don’t want an outsider to come on the earth and take over the Earth. We MUST repent on our wrong behavior or wrong treatment to the Earth. Let us all decide to be careful and conscious about our actions, always keep reminding ourselves that if we will not take care of our planet Earth, one day, we will have to welcome aliens as our new rulers ... as Aliens will take over the Earth.

अस्तित्वाचा अर्थ

 

आपण अस्तित्वात असतो म्हणजे काय? हे 'असणे' काय आहे? असा गहन प्रश्न आपल्याला सहसा पडत नसला तरी कधीकधी मात्र तो पडतो. त्या प्रश्नाचे शब्द नेहमी असेच असतात असे नाही पण आशय मात्र असाच असतो.

आपल्या अस्तित्वाच्या ह्या अनुभवाविषयी सतत जागरुक असणे, आपण स्वतःमध्ये 'उपस्थित' असणे ह्याला हल्ली mindful meditation असे म्हणतात आणि तणावमुक्तिसाठी वापरण्याचे एक तंत्र म्हणून ते लोकप्रियही होत आहे. 'टू बी ऑर नॉट टू बी' असा प्रश्न आत्महत्येचे विचार करणार्या हॅम्लेटच्या मनात घोळत होता आणि त्यामागील हेतू 'टू एंड द हार्ट-एक' असा होता. अस्तित्वासह कधीकधी अशा असह्य हृदयवेदना अपरिहार्यपणे येतात.

जे. कृष्णमूर्ती ह्यांनी To be is to be related अशी सुंदर व्याख्या दिलेली आहे. वस्तू, व्यक्ती, वास्तू आणि स्थळकाळाशी असलेले आपले नातेसंबंध, त्यांचे अनुभव आणि त्यांच्या स्मृती ह्यांनीच आपलं अस्तित्व सिद्ध होत असतं. एखाद्या वस्तूचा मालक, एखाद्याचा बाप, एखाद्याचा मित्र, एखाद्या गर्दीचा घटक अशी आपली प्रतिक्षणी काहीना काही सापेक्ष ओळख असते. ही नाती जितकी विविध स्वरूपाची असतील तितके आपले अस्तित्व समृद्ध असते असे म्हणता येईल.

मानवी इतिहासातील सर्वाधिक बदल झालेला कालखंड म्हणजे 20 वे शतक असे म्हणता येईल. निसर्ग, सामाजिक व्यवहार, संस्कृती, जीवनशैली ह्या सर्वांमध्ये मुख्यतः तंत्रज्ञानाच्या प्रगतीमुळे क्रांतिकारक बदल झाले. सामाजिक-सांस्कृतिक उत्क्रांतीच्या ह्या पर्वातील त्या बदलांचा वेग अभूतपूर्व होता. कदाचित 21 वे शतक अधिक वेगवान असेल. परंतु अनुभवांच्या जातकुळीमध्ये 20व्या शतकात होती तितकी विविधता असेलच असे नाही. विसाव्या शतकातील पूर्वार्धात जन्मलेल्या आणि अजून हयात असलेल्या व्यक्तीने निसर्ग आणि तंत्रज्ञान ह्यांच्यातील विविधतेचा आणि जीवनशैलीतील बदलांचा जो अनुभव सहजगत्या घेतलेला आहे तसा पुढे क्वचितच घेता येईल.

                  वस्तू, व्यक्ती आणि वास्तूंशी असलेल्या भावनिक गुंतवणुकीचे हृद्य चित्रण हा डॉ. अनिल अवचट ह्यांच्या लेखनाचा एक विशेष आहे. त्यांच्या अशा काही लेखांचे संकलन "जगण्यातील काही'' ह्या त्यांच्या पुस्तकात केलेले आहे. 2005 साली प्रकाशित झालेले हे पुस्तक अजूनही ताजे वाटते. आपल्या शाळेच्या ग्रंथालयात हे पुस्तक उपलब्ध आहे. त्यातील लेख तर त्यापूर्वी प्रकाशित झालेले आहेत. विविध स्तरांवर आणि विभिन्न संदर्भांमध्ये 'उपस्थित' राहून जगण्याचा अनुभव घेण्याची कला लेखकाला साधलेली आहे. हे लेखन स्वान्तसुखाय केलेले असो किंवा संपादकांची मागणी पुरविण्यासाठी केलेले असो, वैचारिकतेचा आव न आणणारे आहे. पण तरीही चिंतनाला प्रवृत्त करणारे आहे. मुख्य म्हणजे ह्या सर्वातून 20 व्या शतकातील उत्तरार्धातील मराठी मध्यमवर्गीय जीवनशैलीचा एक दस्तऐवज जाणता- अजाणता तयार झालेला आहे.

व्यवसायाने वैद्यकीय पेशातील डॉक्टर असलेल्या लेखकांचे लेखन बहुधा सरस असते असा माझा अनुभव आहे. त्यांचे लेखन त्यांच्या व्यवसायासंबंधी नसले तरीही सूक्ष्म निरीक्षण आणि अभ्यास करण्याची सवय ह्यामुळे समृद्ध झालेले असते.

She is a nurturer,

Of a home she is the Mother.

We want her,

To live without fear.

Created lovingly by God,

She connects us to the Lord.

Let her come to this beautiful earth,

'She' is a sibling,

With a wand and a wing.

Her birth brightens the house,

Whose presence makes great social nous!

A woman is the glory of creation,

Who needs to be given protection.

StudentWrite: TERRORISM - CAUSES AND EFFECTS

Imagine that you are shopping, travelling or enjoying a fancy 5 star dinner. Suddenly there is a massive explosion! The air is filled with the cries of the dying as the body parts lie strewn all round. There is complete mayhem and nobody has a clue about the people who are now either dead or have melted into the crowd. Within minutes, the news channels roll in and there is the tallying of body counts. It is just another day in the annals of global terrorism.

Friends, if we notice, there is not much difference between animals and human beings. But because of the progress that humans have made today, they are superior to animals. But why? It is because of the strong intellect powers that we humans have been gifted by nature. Man used this boon for his own progress; but as you know, there are no limits for human wants; and because of these infinite desires, man started to exploit other nations which gave rise to the most terrible word `TERRORISM`

Global terrorism is here to stay whether we like it or not. Almost every country has been a victim of terrorist attack at some point in time. There have been many terrorist groups throughout history. Terrorism usually targets innocent citizens, people who have no connection whatsoever to the terrorists.

There are countless reasons of terrorism. In order to achieve his own selfish goals, man has forgotten the values of love, non-violence and peace and instead upholds emotions like hatred, jealousy, anger and greediness. His objective is to spread panic and he is even ready to finish his own people.

Riots are initiated by financial and religious fanatics. Social and political injustice adds fuel to the fire. Poverty, political conflicts, differences in world view all contributes to terrorism; but whatever the reason there is no justification for killing innocent people. No religion sanctifies it.

In Sri Lanka, the Tamil separatist group, `LTTE`i.e `THE LIBERATION TIGERS OF TAMIL EALEM` was active for many years. It was an LTTE suicide bomber who killed India`s Ex- Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. Militant Islam is one of the most dangerous breeding grounds for terror in this century. Groups like Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-E-Toiba and Taliban are known for their ghastly terror attacks on countries like U.S.A., India and U.K. The very name of Osama Bin Laden, struck fear in the hearts of Americans! The Al-Qaeda is supposed to have masterminded the terror attack at World Trade Centre in New York.

Terrorists do not care for negotiation.Their intention is to create fear by which they hope they will achieve their objectives.

There are only and only negative effects of terrorism. The economy of many nations is crippled because of terrorism. The tourism industry as well as the education system also gets affected. We know that terrorism kills people, but we should be aware of the fact that education kills terrorism. But when are these terrorists going to understand the importance of education?

On one side we will find great personalities like MOTHER TERESA and NELSON MANDELA who have worked for spreading peace and humanity and on the other side, cruel people like Bagdadi and Jahangir who are creating unrest on issues of religion.

Friends, as we are the future generation, we have the responsibility of eradicating terrorism from the world. Countries supporting terrorism should be boycotted. The illegal supply of arms and ammunitions should also be banned. The latest news about terrorist attack was on 10^th July 2017. Pilgrims travelling in a bus to Amarnath were attacked by terrorists and 6 people were shot dead. What a ghastly deed!

At the end I would say that unless a solution is found to all these activities, terrorism will continue to cast a shadow on the world.

everyday, in every house, there’s tea.

Situated on Maharashtra’s west coast,

famous for chicken roast.

Rule of  British in 18^th century,

made situations worse and teary.

19^thcenturysaw financial progress,

along with some religious mess.

20^th century, stress on education,

thereafter Mumbai’s incarnation.

Built on strength and patience,

nothing mere coincidence.

Sweat, toil and perseverance,

rewards based on performance.

21^st century, never challenge the city,

for it will have no pity.

It won’t have any mercy,

just honest labour and courtesy.

People come to Mumbai with a dream,

some dream to come.

City of joy and irony,

employment and jobs for many.

Adult to child to a youngster,

Good morning teachers and my dear friends,

My ambition is to become a cricketer and represent my country, India.

I don’t just like cricket, I love it!

A beautiful cover drive by Virat, a commanding straight drive by the God of cricket himself, Sachin, a helicopter shot by Dhoni and energetic batting by AB D’villiers. I get thrilled when I see these things happening on the cricket ground.Cricket is the most popular game in India and people, who watch it, take it very seriously. I want to give people of my country the pleasure that they are expecting from Cricket.

My Aunty represented India in Women’s Cricket and my cousin sister is playing for Mumbai Ranji. They feel so proud playing at these levels of competition and I also want to experience that.

Virat once said, “The bat is not a toy but it is a weapon”. I too want to master this weapon.A cricketer is expected to have qualities such as discipline, focus, calmness and most important be a good human being. I have to work very hard and, yes, I am ready for it.

Players like AB D’villier inspire me to give my best in studies as well. With proper planning, one can excel both in studies and in sports. I will put all my efforts not only to hit winning runs but also to score good marks.

I pray to GOD to make me capable of fulfilling my ambition and I also need best wishes from all of you….

Good Morning to one and all present over here.

Cashless transactions mean financial transactions handled by the means of credit cards, bank transfer, cheques etc. and not by the means of cash, coins or bills being handed from person to person. There are multiple advantages of cashless transactions.

Ease and convenience of transaction is probably the biggest motivator to go digital. Once you are digital you don't need to carry wads of cash or bundles of cheque books. It is also a safer option while spending during travel. It can be useful in case of emergencies like sudden hospital visits or unplanned purchases. You also have the freedom to transact whenever and wherever you want.

The biggest factor especially for the people with an Indian mentality is probably discounts. Recently the government had waived tax on cashless transactions up to Rs. 2000. It is an incentive provided by the government to promote digital transactions. Various mobile wallets like paytm , free charge, etc. offer discounts on mobile bills, landline bills, movie tickets and so on, to involve more and more people in their cashless system.

Only factors like ease and convenience and discounts aren't enough. The biggest factor on which people rely on is security. If stolen, it is easy to block a credit card or mobile wallet remotely, but it is impossible to get back your cash. So digital payments prove to be more secure. When the futuristic cards and mobile wallets will evolve to use biometric id like finger print or eye scan, it will be more difficult to copy them thus making it a safer option.

           

Every digital transaction gets recorded. Hence all transactions can be tracked by the government. This will control illegal purchases and sales. It will automatically reduce corrupt practices. Every deal can be monitored; so people will tend to avoid underhand dealings and stashing away of black money. This will result in a clean society.

I would like to conclude my speech with the point of small gains. It may not seem much of an advantage but by becoming cashless one can easily ward off borrowers. One more plus is that you don’t have to carry and offer exact change to the shopkeeper; you can pay him the exact amount through a digital transfer.

So friends, let’s go digital and cashless and fight against the black money together.

MOCK PARLIAMENT DRILL

It was an activity that tested the caliber of the students of VPM’s Vidya Mandir. Their know-how of the issues faced by the country and the expertise with which students debated on key issues was worth watching. Unlike the parliamentary sessions we often witness, this one was conducted with decorum keeping in mind the prestige of our great nation.

Objectives -
1. To enable the student to understand the manner in which the Parliament functions.
2. To enhance awareness of the development schemes undertaken by the govt.
3. To enable students to analyze the merits and demerits of certain key issues.
4. To develop in students the ability to express themselves and debate confidently.

Action Plan -
Teachers identified two significant issues that may be passed as a bill by the Govt.
a) Centralization of the Education System in India
b) Completion of the Golden Quadrilateral

The Rotary Club of Dahisar had mooted the idea of conducting a simulation of a Mock Parliament session in our school. Rotarian Shri. Dilip Nabar presided over the function. This was held in Bhai Surve hall on 14th February at 10.00 am. Students were arranged as per the seating arrangement seen in the Parliament House.
The two bills discussed were ‘Decentralization of Education’ and ‘The Need for the Golden Quadrilateral’.

14^th of February saw the students all geared up for the big day. The session opened with the Speaker throwing the house open for the Question hour. Several student parliamentarians of the Opposition party raised relevant questions which were answered by the Ruling party. Current problems were highlighted and their probable solutions put forth. Thereafter the two bills were debated upon. The session concluded with the bills being sent to the upper house for further discussion.

The days of preparation prior to the actual Mock Parliament saw children at their energetic best. This was a new, exciting activity that enhanced their awareness of current issues, taught them to sift and select appropriate data and gave them a platform to express themselves confidently.
